Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program
At the Brooklyn Chinese-American Association (BCA), our primary goal for the Universal Prekindergarten Program is to create a nurturing environment and exploratory experiences for the young children to facilitate their cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and creative expression/aesthetic development. Our program activities are specially designed with the children’s level of development, unique personal characteristics, and family and cultural background and that promote his or her optimal growth and physical, social, intellectual, language and emotional development. Children will learn actively through PLAY, exploration, and experiment. Learning experiences, activities and skills will also be integrated and organized around various themes to make learning more systematic and effective.
In addition, our program will strive to promote early literacy and improve children’s communication skills in English given that many children come from families where English is not the first language. The program, while reflecting the children’s own culture and language backgrounds, also addresses the specific needs and characteristics of the various ethnic groups. Emphasis will be placed on multicultural activities so as to help children learn, respect and appreciate the various differences among them.
Our UPK program currently enrolls more than 200 students each year. We provide half-day school instructions to 4 year-old children. Our program services are provided in our 50th Street school and 54th Street school locations.
