Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Program is funded by the New York City Department of Education to provide early childhood education for the four-year-olds.

Brooklyn Chinese-American Association (BCA) offers the full day UPK program (6 hours and 20 minutes of class hours every school day) and half-day UPK Program (2.5 class hours every school day) to meet the different needs of preschoolers. The primary goal of the Universal Pre-kindergarten Program is to create a nurturing environment and exploratory experiences for the young children to facilitate their cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and creative expression/aesthetic development. The program activities are specially designed to accommodate the children’s level of development, unique personal characteristics, and family and cultural background and to promote their optimal growth in physical, social, emotional, intellectual and language development. Children will learn actively through PLAY, exploration, and experiment. Learning experiences, activities and skills will also be integrated and organized around various units and themes to make learning more systematic and effective.
